Let’s make it Topless

When people start to say the name Nissan 240sx, they start to think of the most attractive, aggressive and stanced-out 240sx that comes to mind thinking of the most bad-ass S13 coupes and hatches, and S14s. But many tend to forget about the limited production convertible that was built throughout 1992-1994. Matt’s ’93 convertible is a great example how performance and stance can also be achieved with the top down.

Starting life as a Matt’s daily driver from school to home, he was suddenly bit by the infamous mod bug. Within the two years of owning it he has changed and/or modified almost everything on it.

The overall theme of this car was to make it an eye popper but at the same time police friendly. Matt didn’t do the typical SR20DET swap, but instead he added a SR T25 turbo to the stock engine instead. To keep up with the boost, the KA was fitted with modified SR20 manifold and intake, Z32 airfilter, 370cc injectors, and a Walbro 255lph fuel pump, all with an idea to look as stock as possible. On the drivetrain Matt ditched the 4-speed automatic to a 5-speed manual combined with a Stage 3 6 puck sprung hub clutch transferring all of its power to a welded differential.

The stance is achieved with Parts Shop Max PRO coilovers slammed on XXR 521s, mounted on a 5 lug conversion with 300zx brakes all around. On the outside a JDM S13 Silvia front end conversion was done, Vertex side skirts were added, and Supermade Instant Gentleman front and rear bumpers to give it fine lines and great definition. With that, a Seibon hood and pair of Dmax taillights were added to sum it all up. All of which painted in white to give it that classy and simple look and appeal.

Then on the inside Matt welded his own 4 point roll cage protecting a 330mm Woodgrain steering wheel, SPL bucket seats, and rear Lancer Evolution Recaro seats.

Matt’s ’93 convertible is great example on how a project car can become into something great, how not everything is about being flashy but sometimes its about being low-key, and most of all looking good in the California sun.
